SAMPLE MEAL PLAN

DAY 1
Breakfast

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • oatmeal (1/2 cup of old fashioned oatmeal mixed with 1 cup nonfat milk sprinkled with cinnamon and 1 tbsp chopped walnuts)
  • Coffee or tea with nonfat milk and sugar substitute

Midmorning Snack

  • 1 hardboiled egg

Lunch

  • Chicken salad (chicken breast  cooked with olive oil, diced, cucumbers, diced tomatoes, minced green onion and romaine lettuce leaves) top with low-sugar, reduced fat Italian dressing.

Mid-afternoon Snack

  • Fresh pear with light cottage cheese

Dinner

  • 5 oz Salmon fillet with a pinch of salt and pepper
  • Tossed salad (mixed greens, cucumbers, green peppers, cherry tomatoes)
  • Oil and vinegar to taste

Day 2
Breakfast

  • Berry smoothie (8 oz nonfat sugar free fruit flavored yogurt, 1/2 cup crushed ice: blend until smooth)
  • Coffee or tea with nonfat milk and sugar substitute

Mid-morning Snack

  • 1 hardboiled egg

Lunch

  • 1 steamed chicken breast with broccoli florets seasoned with salt and pepper; topped with olive oil to taste.
  • Tomato and cucumber slice topped with lemon juice

Mid-afternoon Snack

  • 4 oz. nonfat, sugar free yogurt

Dinner

  • Broiled Sirloin Steam (3 oz)
  • Steamed asparagus
  • Mushrooms sauteed in olive oil

Day 3
Breakfast

  • 1 cup high-fiber cereal (such as All-Bran) with 3/4 cup of nonfat milk
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • Coffee or tea with nonfat milk and sugar substitute

Mid-morning Snack

  • 1 small Granny Smith apple with 1 tbsp. peanute butter (reduced fat)

Lunch

  • Greek Salad (romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato, slice onion, 1/2 cup crumpled feta cheese, 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice, 1/2 tbsp salt

Mid-afternoon Snack

  • 4 0z. nonfat, sugar free yogurt

Dinner

  • Herb marinated chicken (chicken breast halves)
  • 1 sliced cucmber and tomato with salt andpepper
  • Steamed zucchini, and yellow squash

Dessert

  • Fresh pear with ricotta cheese and 1tbsp chopped walnuts
